Getting started

Cha-Ching runs in the menu bar and has no Dock icon or main window.

  1. Launch Cha-Ching. A dollar-sign icon appears in the menu bar at the top right of your screen.
  2. Click the icon to open the app.
  3. Open Settings and add an account for each platform you want to track.
  4. Paste in the API key for that platform. Your totals populate within a few seconds.

Where to find your API keys

Keys are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and are never sent anywhere except to the platform they belong to.

Connecting a Shopify store

Shopify needs two things: your store handle and an Admin API access token.

Step 1 — Create the access token

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps.
  2. Click Create an app, name it something like “Cha-Ching”, then open Configuration.
  3. Under Admin API integration, enable read_orders. Also enable read_all_orders if you want history older than 60 days.
  4. Click Install app, then copy the Admin API access token. It starts with shpat_.

Shopify shows that token once. Copy it before leaving the page — if you lose it you will need to generate a new one.

Step 2 — Find your store handle

This is the part of your admin URL before .myshopify.com — not your public shop domain.

Your public domain will not work. If you sell at example.com, that is not your handle — Shopify’s API does not answer on it, and the connection will fail.

Step 3 — Add it in Cha-Ching

  1. Open Settings → Accounts → Add Account and choose Shopify.
  2. Enter your handle in the store field (the app shows .myshopify.com after it) and paste the token below it.
  3. Click Test Connection. You should see how many transactions were found in the last 30 days. If it fails, the message tells you whether the store or the token was the problem.

Common questions

The menu bar icon disappeared

macOS hides menu bar items when the bar runs out of room, which is common on laptops with a notch. Try quitting an app that owns a menu bar item, or use a menu bar manager to reveal hidden items. Relaunching Cha-Ching also brings it back.

My revenue shows as zero

Check that the API key has read permission for charges or orders on that platform, and that the date range filter is not set to a period with no activity. If the key was recently created, some platforms take a few minutes to activate it.

I subscribed but Pro features are still locked

Open the app and click Restore Purchases on the subscription screen. If it still does not unlock, make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID used for the purchase, then email us.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open System Settings, click your Apple ID, choose Media & Purchases, then Subscriptions, and select Cha-Ching. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. Subscriptions are managed by Apple, so we cannot cancel or refund on your behalf.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

How do I delete my data?

Removing an account in Settings deletes its credentials from your Keychain. Since there is no Cha-Ching server, uninstalling the app removes everything else. See the privacy policy for detail.

What are the system requirements?

macOS 15.0 (Sequoia) or later, on Apple silicon or Intel.
